Mobile App: Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes

Since spring, I’ve been into this game on my Android.  This game has kept me interested base on three elements: Stars Wars, ability to build up characters/team in a more simplified RPG/action format and it’s free (not a pay to win sort of thing) Of course money would get you upgrades, credits and energy to “advance” quicker but so far the game has shown good balance in not requiring monetary investment.

As the slide show scrolls through below, you can see the ability to play with others in guilds, create teams to recreate legendary fights or form the most unlikely of alliances (Darth Vader, Yoda, Chewie, Darth Maul and Kylo Ren or….. Han Solo with Boba Fett, Greedo, and Lando; but then again there could be some trust issues there)

New characters are being reintroduced all the time with new events, game modes to avoid game stalling out, leaving the player always something to accomplish.

Game play is turn based where your team of characters is trying to eliminate the other team. Each character has normal attack and then 2-3 more options (healing, special attack/effect) to choose from each turn. Stronger attacks have a wait time between uses and each character has is niche or synergy that pairs best with other characters and or situational use.

This creates a need for strategy in figuring out what synergies you can create with teams, what character to have as your leader (Leader’s have special abilities that help certain factions or entire group), offensive, defensive, turn meter based, etc. You level characters and upgrade their gear to make them stronger, unlocking more powerful attacks, unique skills as they progress.

In short, this game has a lot going for it, lot to do for a free app. Not sure how much I will stick with it but I enjoy it and it is definitely something newer from EA that requires strategy and Star Wars. Winning combination for me at least so far.
